St Andrew’s is a small, friendly and welcoming village church with those attending coming not only from West Stafford but from Dorchester and the surrounding area.
There is a ramp so the church is accessible for those in wheelchairs but the only parking is in nearby residential roads. The church is on the main road through the village set in a beautiful churchyard with a seat on the south side.
The varied pattern of worship includes hymns and sung responses while those in the congregation act as sidespersons, read or lead intercessions. The pattern of services (shown right/below) may be changed for festivals, when the service is usually Parish Communion.
There is opportunity to chat over coffee held half an hour before the 11:15am service. There is as yet no toilet in the church.
Eating together is seen as an important part of our life so during the year there are bring and share lunches or we have lunch together at the local pub.
The church plays an active part in the local community, taking part in village events. Social events include coffee mornings, cream teas and Harvest thanksgiving. There are also regular get-togethers to tidy up the churchyard.
